Petrol station
#156242 / vu 2440 foisProverty is current problem in many countries of our global society. People in rich countries are able to spend money on superfluous things like entertainment stuff whereas people in poor counttries need their money to get something to eat to survive. The cartoon illustrates this problem.
In the cartoon you cann see a man in the center of the picture who is filling up his car with a new kind of fuel. His car looks like an expensive one,but you can`t see any label on it .There´s only haöf ofthe car visible in the right cornerof the cartoon. Between the man and his car you can see the petrol pump on which the expression Ethanol is written, a kind of fuel made by plants. The man is looking sort of bored an is answering two poor black people who are standing at the left of the cartoon and seem to be hungry since the right oneof them who wearing a hat is holding some kind of container in his hands where he probably wants the man to put in some food.Above these two guys there is a speech bubble which shows you what the man is saying to the two poor guys.He is saying My car too is hungry. Since too is not written at the end of the sentence and has to be pronounced like two this means that it is his second car he is filling with fuel an is also hungry like the two men because it needs to be filled up with fuel.
Probably the cartoonist wants to show the differences between poor and rich societies. The rich ones even use food to move their cars instead of giving it to the poor people and driving less:They even buy a second car often and the poor ones will stay poor.
In my opinion it`s a nice way to show of criticizing thr current state of the social differences, particularly in economy. The cartoonist realized that we spend our money for almost useless things, ignoring other poor communities.Maybe we have to change this to become fairer.
