Naturally, this has to measure itself with the internationally accepted Krüger-Benchmark.
That's a tough benchmark, isn't it? The guy is phenomenal. It's a given: to do any subject Kruger has done, you are bound to be compared.
If I'm doing the same or similar subject as another artist - especially Kruger - I try to go in a completely different direction. I might do a different viewpoint, or use a completely different medium, make the statement my own. Other times, I might actually do a take-off/satire. The point is, I either overtly acknowledge and tip my hat, or completely diverge from the other artist.
I'm not always successful, mind you... like everyone, I have my own predispositions.
Not much is discussed about making a statement in the art of caricature. Hmm... good topic for a discussion.
That being said, I like the drawing.
