I can't foresee the future. But when you have two thirds of the population under the age of 30, and they're against you - it is fair to say you're on the way out. Today, tomorrow, 4 years from now...

Quote:
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, angrily warned opposition leaders Friday to stay off the streets and denied opposition claims that last week's disputed election was rigged.

In a stern and lengthy sermon at Friday prayers in Tehran, he also called directly for an end to the protests that have brought hundreds of thousands of protesters onto the streets to back demands for a new election.

"Street challenge is not acceptable," he said. "This is challenging democracy after the elections."

I remain a little sceptical about toppling Ahmadinejad meaning the victory of democracy. To be sure, he is dangerous and awful BUT there still is the possiblity that, like other dangerous and awful people(the militia thing is a striking parallel as well) he indeed has been legitimated by the majority of the population. Remember that that people protesting now are mostly urban and well-educated.I still believe that they forged the results of the election, they are too extreme. But still..

No, it isn't, since Ahmadenijad will stay president, unfortunately. But there has been a great progress.
