Όταν το έτος 2009 το χρέος της Ελλάδας ήταν στο 126% του Ακαθάριστου εθνικού προϊόντος ( Gross National Product – GNP ) , το 2010 το χρέος το έφτασαν στο 156 % του Gross National Product – GNP.
Σήμερα το δημόσιο χρέος της Ελλάδας είναι στο 178 % του ΑΕΠ (Gross National Product – GNP ) , δηλαδή στα 327.90 δισεκατομμύρια .
Στα χρόνια που εξασκήθηκαν τα μετρά λιτότητας στην Ελλάδα από το Διεθνές νομισματικό ταμείο , την Ευρωπαϊκή κεντρική τράπεζα , και την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση , το χρέος της χώρας αυξήθηκε .
Η Ελλάδα είναι μια χώρα που , που εδώ και 200 χρόνια , συνέχεια βρίσκεται χρεωμένη , γιατί έτσι το θέλουν οι σωτήρες της .
