#326148 / vu 3855 foisThe next UN Climate Convention on Climate Change will be held in Catowice Dec. 02 - 14.
In preparation of this meeting a UN climate report was released stating that the participant states need to triple their efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.
Club of Rome authors Graeme Maxton and Jorgen Randers state in their book 'Reinventing Prosperity' that we cannot strive for growth and - at the same time - reach the 2-degree goal (having reference to 2100).
Most important is the conversion of power generation from fossil fuels to renewable sources.
Above this it will be indispensable to introduce an adequate tax on aviation petrol and kerosine to reduce civil aviation. This tax needs to be imposed worldwide.
The same applies to heavy fuel oil used for overseas shipping.
Both, cheap flights and cheap overseas transports provide false incentives!
A fact that makes it difficult for people to recognize the necessity of climate affine measures is that we see the consequences of our emissions only 15 years later!
(What we emit in 2018 we will see 2033!)
