A cover illustration for a finished novelette which I hope to turn into a short novel one day. In the story, genetically modified, super-intelligent birds run the world after an electromagnetic pulse from an unknown source wipes out infrastructures worldwide and the red, white, and blue flu (a type of avian influenza) turns world leaders into mindless idiots! The birds then create a utopia and do a pretty good job of running things until peculiar radio signals from space begin to corrupt the young. The hero has the peculiar ability to amplify these signals and becomes an object of great importance to the leaders of the new world order.
