me too I decided not to participate, however, I am not judging. I am just showing my ideas about the president's happiness and the unclear fate of Hadi Heidari.

I hope that those who decided on the contrary believe most useful to use this international showcase for expressing their thoughts.

to be found here:

In his cartoon I see all the helpless and needless trials with posters to tell everybody that Hadi Heidari should be set free.
I think the Iranian president Ahmedinejad will not die of an heart-attack when he dreams up these posters and will not free Hadi for this.....
To the contrary, the real world of cartoonists shows him that everything is OK.
In an early manifesto signed by 176 Iranian cartoonists, they asked between the lines the world to join in to boycott the participation in the 9th Tehran international cartoon biennial because of the irregularities during the presidential election in Iran.
See here:

this manifesto was as well published in many cartoon-websites all over the world.
Among the undersigning artists was as number 30, Hadi Heidari.
The CRNI (Cartoonists Rights Network, International)
reported twice about this boycott.
e.g. http://www.cartoonistrights.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=97&Itemid=44
However,
the 9th Biennale in Theran is running smoothly and the list of all the participants is now published.
see here:

I found names on the list, which I didn't expect to participate after the manifesto.
First cartoons entered in the biennale can be found here in the daily section:
http://www.irancartoon.com/indexday047.htm
My cartoon here wants only to show how happy the Iranian president is now, that the Biennale was not effected by the manifesto and the boycott of some Iranian cartoonists and the world of cartoons bows in front of him (and the cultural minister who runs this biennale)...
All this makes Hadis situation not easier, I assume.....
Just my two cents... Sorry for the long text, but I think we have to face reality...
