Leonte Nastase was born on the 26th of May 1944 in Caciulatesti, jud Dolj, Romania Graduated the Art High School and the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Academy of Fine Arts – Pedagogy section. He is a member of Romanian United Artists Association since 1990. Publishing cartoons since 1974. In 1975 he scored his debut at Urzica, the most famous Romanian humorous magazine. He currently lives and works in Constanta, a town situated at the Black Sea coast. Nastase won many international prizes: in Istanbul -Turkey (1978), Akzehiro- Turkey (1979), Skopje- Macedonia (1980), Gabrovo- Bulgaria (1981), Bordighera- Italy (1981), Moscow- Russia (1983) , Willembroeck Belgium (1987), Saint-Just le Martel France (2002), Won some important prizes in Romania: Great Prize at “C. Tanase” National Caricature Exhibition – Vaslui (1984) and 1st Prize at “Marul de Aur” Caricature Exhibition – Bistrita Nasaud (1987), 1st Prize at Urziceni International Caricature Exhibition –2006. Had personal exhibitions in Belgium (1987,2007), in Bulgaria (1999,2007),in Italy (2004). He also had many exhibitions in Romania:in his home town, Constanta, in 1980, 1981, 1989, 1996, 2005, 2006,2007 and in Bucharest, Mangalia , Sibiu, Techirghiol too. Three of his works were acquired by the Modern Art Museum in Basel, Switzerland. Works with the same pleasure creating press cartoons and exhibition cartoons. With his works he illustrated humorous books, aphorisms books as well as books of epigrams and theatre. In May 2006 had launched his own book of cartoons.
