Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made his first official visit to Serbia on August 7–8, where he met Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. During the Belgrade meeting, Vučić said Serbia supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and thanked Ukraine for supporting Serbia's territorial integrity. Ukraine does not recognize Kosovo's independence and maintains that position partly because it does not want to create a precedent that could be used to justify Russia's claims over Ukrainian territories, including Crimea and parts of the Donbas.

On August 9, Russian sources reported that more than 170 captured Ukrainian Vampire drones had been repaired and repurposed for use against Ukrainian positions. According to the report, some of the refurbished drones have already been deployed in combat.

The Vampire is a Ukrainian heavy strike hexacopter used for missions including dropping munitions, remote mining, reconnaissance and logistics. Russia has struggled to field comparable heavy drone systems, making captured Ukrainian aircraft a useful battlefield resource.
