I think this is problematic not only because there's a chance for change in conflict (everyone commenting on your complaint has said so, this far), but also because you would have to exclude a whole branch of often outrageously funny or thoughtful cartoons. I sure would miss them. And I don't see why they can't coexist - they can in other places - take Doonesbury on the comics page.

And the issue described here is a part of the history of the United States of America. Every nation has to deal with its history. If people turn away because of this, then they're not ready for the future yet.

Cartoons that criticize America clearly don't form the majority here - and, frankly, I think this cartoon is only a valid expression of the contradiction between American values and actions.
I have to admit that there are a few people that get aggressive in their comments, sometimes bordering on being anti-American. I get angry at those, especially if it's utterly impossible to have a discussion with them. But they are only a few and generally, people are nice & smart on toonpool.
